Matt, candidates for judges should definitely be vetted and I would think the local bar association in OH does this similar to what the Los Angeles County Bar Association does as well. Folks get rated and that is one data point that you can use. And not everyone is rated highly. And don’t overlook that you are talking about trial level judges. A person who thinks the judge committed error can appeal to the Court of Appeal and then to the Ohio Supreme Court. So, yes, while they have a lot of power as a trial judge it is not unchecked. And to your main point, everyone should look into a persons background who is trying to become a judge. We all need to get more involved and exercise our civic duties.

There lies one of the problems. Traditional avenues of research isnt trusted anymore. Please see below from last election. Also, the BAR here in Ohio has been challenged. Voters need to take matters into their own hands
